STS Strategic Plan (2023-2026)

The plan outlines specific goals and objectives for the next three years, with a focus on improving livelihoods and food security, promoting democracy and human rights, building community resilience to climate change, expanding access to inclusive education, increasing access to quality healthcare and nutrition, and fostering a humanitarian-development-peace nexus.

To achieve these goals, STS International is committed to working in close collaboration with local communities and partners to ensure interventions are locally led and sustainable. The organization will leverage technology and innovation to improve program effectiveness and efficiency, promote accountability, transparency, and learning through rigorous monitoring and evaluation, and advocate for policies and practices that promote sustainable development and the protection of human rights.

At the end of the strategic plan period in 2025, STS International aims to have empowered vulnerable communities to improve their livelihoods and food security, promoted democracy and human rights, fostered a humanitarian-development-peace nexus, expanded access to inclusive education, and increased access to quality healthcare and nutrition. The organization believes that by working together with communities and partners, it can achieve a world where every individual has the opportunity to live a healthy, dignified, and fulfilling life.

Goal 1: Improve Livelihoods and Food Security for Vulnerable Communities

  • Strategic Objective 1.1: Increase access to markets and financial services for smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs
  • Strategic Objective 1.2: Promote sustainable agriculture practices and improve natural resource management
  • Strategic Objective 1.3: Increase access to nutritious food for vulnerable communities

Goal 2: Increase livestock productivity and improve the livelihoods of livestock herders.

  • Strategies Objective 2.1: Enhanced capacity of livestock herders on sustainable livestock management practices.
  • Strategic Objective 2.2: Livestock herders have improved access to veterinary services and essential quality animal health care services 
  • Improved animal breeds and access to better feeds and water management techniques so as to improve livestock productivity.
  • Enhanced linkage between the livestock herders and markets to ensure better access to market and fair prices for their livestock.

Goal 3: Promote Democracy and Human Rights

  • Strategic Objective 3.1: Promote inclusive and accountable governance, with a focus on gender equality and youth empowerment
  • Strategic Objective 3.2: Strengthen civil society organizations and promote freedom of expression and information
  • Strategic Objective 3.3: Advocate for the protection of human rights, with a focus on the most vulnerable populations

Goal 4: Build community resilience to climate change impacts

    • Strategic Objective 4.1: Implement community-based adaptation initiatives
    • Strategic Objective 4.2: Support farmers in adopting climate-smart agriculture practices
    • Strategic Objective 4.3: Improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities
    • Strategic Objective 4.4: Promote the use of renewable energy sources
    • Strategic Objective 4.5: Strengthen early warning systems to enable early response to climate-related disasters

Goal 5: Expand Access to Inclusive Education

  • Strategic Objective 5.1: Improve access to quality education for marginalized communities, particularly girls and children with disabilities
  • Strategic Objective 5.2: Strengthen teacher training and support the development of inclusive education policies and practices
  • Strategic Objective 5.3: Promote education as a means of peacebuilding and conflict prevention

Goal 6: Increase Access to Quality Healthcare and Nutrition

    • Strategic Objective 6.1: Improve access to healthcare services and promote the integration of traditional and modern healthcare practices
    • Strategic Objective 6.2: Increase access to clean water and sanitation facilities to reduce the risk of waterborne diseases
    • Strategic Objective 6.3: Promote good nutrition practices and increase access to nutritious food for vulnerable populations

Goal 7: Foster Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus

  • Strategic Objective 7.1: Strengthen coordination and collaboration between humanitarian, development, and peace actors
  • Strategic Objective 7.2: Support conflict-affected communities to recover and rebuild through livelihoods and peacebuilding interventions
  • Strategic Objective 7.3: Advocate for the protection of civilians and the promotion of human rights in conflict-affected areas
