The goal of STS Community Health intervention is to support local communities, families and individuals to access promotive, preventive and curative health services so as to improve community health outcomes. STS supports Afgoye Health facility, which is one of the most important health facilities in Lower Shabelle.
The availability of cash to the community has increased the community purchasing power for food products and has positively impacted on the lives of the beneficiaries by reducing food and economic vulnerabilities of the poorest community groups.
As a strategy to respond to the severe alternating drought and flood cycles that render many households food insecure, STS, with support from FAO, conducted community nutrition awareness trainings in Lower Shabelle and Bay regions of SWS.
