Supporting Resilience Smallholder Farmers’ system is a project funded by the WFP, with the implementing cooperating partner being STS – Serving Together for Social Development. The primary objective of this project is to strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers across eight cooperative societies in the Buloburte district, Hirshabelle State. This will be achieved by enhancing their capabilities and rehabilitating canals to irrigate their farms. The ultimate aim is to enhance their resilience against climate-induced shocks through targeted support, specifically focusing on implementing climate-smart farming practices.
The intended outcome of this initiative is to enhance the resilience of smallholder farmers, with a particular emphasis on empowering women and youth. This empowerment will enable them to adopt more resilient, inclusive, and high-quality climate-smart farming techniques, in addition to practicing safe food handling. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the livelihoods of these farmers.
